Tioman Island Short Getaway

Salang beach, Tioman Island

Thinking of short getaway, most Johorian will just go to Singapore (nearest country) or Melaka (nearest state). lol. BUT, for me, I actually work in Singapore, so there is no point for me to go there again. In fact, there is another ideal short getaway destination to go- Tioman Island:))))))))

You will never know how much I like to spend my time in an island, with beaches, sun and sea. Most importantly, I can snorkel!!!!! It is just so perfect.

There are quite a number of islands you can choose to go- Berjaya, Salang, Paya, Juara, Genting and so on. ME and my two besties were planning to go Paya beach at first, but, the resort we wanted was fully booked already as our plan was quite last minute:( In the end, we chose to go Salang instead.

Just simply took a bus from Larkin bus terminal and alighted Mersing bus terminal. We have contacted a local tour guide there so that he will help us to arrange transport, accommodation, snorkelling package and makan. He picked us up at Mersing bus terminal then dropped us at Mersing Ferry Terminal:)

Before we taking the ferry:)
Around 2 hours to reach Salang, I think? I couldn't remember. lol. I slept all the way until we reached.
Once we reached, the room was not ready due to high occupancy and peak season:(( SOOOOO, Lunch first. Don't expect too much for makan there, food sucks, hmmm....

After settling down in the room, we changed our bikini and out for first snorkelling:)
BTW, don't expect too much for room also, just a place to sleep.lol.
SHYYYYYYYY
We were in a tour of 20++ people. As we had experience in snorkelling before, we didn't really listen to what the coach said and non stop selfie. haha ( we were so rude. lol.)

Look at the pic, the beach is just so nice... BUT, to me, I still prefer Perhentian/ Redang beaches. I am always proud of Malaysia Islands.
Before going to snorkel

LET'S GO!!!!!
My friend actually bought an underwater camera. Unfortunately, when we were on our way back, underwater camera was spoilt.FML.

At night, there will be a BBQ session as well for dinner. Don't expect too much for it X 3. lol. After dinner, we just bought some alcoholic drinks with some friends we got to know there. Chit chatting, selfies, drinking and laughing. Nothing better than moments that you spent with your best friends:D

First from the left-ME (gentle reminder)

I am sure that I will explore more Malaysia islands/ beaches in future. Stay tuned <3 div="">

Bangkok Trip (March 2013)

During my internship,
my colleagues and I always surfed and surfed and surfed, just to find some interesting places to go.
At lastt, we decided to go BANGKOK!

We bought the tickets from TigerAir at a promotional price of $150. It was just a 1.5 hours of flight to BKK so we did not order any inflight meals.
ME at Changi Airport.
Once we reached, we just took the airport rail link to Rachprapop Station, the nearest station to our hotel. It was cheappppp and convenient. lol.

Taking photo with my travel buddies outside hotel.
My 3 travel buddies- Maggie (she did most of the researches. lol), Asraf (good in direction and map) and Jay (no description for him. hmmm...Korean?).

The hotel we chose to stay was Budacco Hotel, in Pratunam area. Staff were friendly, hotel near to most shopping areas and room was clean! Highly recommended. It was just a walking distance to Platinum Mall, Pratunam night market and Central World.
Pink-themed room
There were few colours room in Budacco Hotel and ours was PINK. Suit us right? I know. lolll
Coconut drink after shopping

MUST DOsssss in Bangkok:
1. Drink coconut drinks
2. Buy Naraya bags

Guess I have shown this two examples in this pic, right?lol
Bangkok's weather was extremely hot so I had to keep drinking water to prevent dehydration. Coconut drink obviously became a very good choice for me and it was cheap also.

I bought a lot of Naraya bags and pouches in Central World Naraya for myself and as souvenirs to all my dearest relatives and friends too.

We travelled around in Bangkok, mostly by public transport-BTS. Exactly same like Singapore MRT. Only difference- People QUEUE for boarding BTS and people DO NOT QUEUE for MRT. No squeezing. Weeeeeee

Tips: Try to avoid taking tuk-tuk. Waste of time as the driver will keep taking you to some shops. Taxi will be a better choice to me but traffic jam was BAD
One of the toiletssss in Terminal 21
Some once a lifetime MUST visit:
TERMINAL 21

Just simply take the BTS and alight at Asok Station.
It is a shopping mall but built like aiport. Different level with different country theme. ME and Maggie kept taking photos of EVERY level's TOILET. lol.
My favourite level's TOILET was ROME!!!nice and special..

 Food Hunting Time!
In Siam Square, there were two popular restaurant in Soi 5. One will be Som Tam Nua, we did try, but to me,nothing special.BUT the milk tea was superb! They were famous for their SomTam, which is papaya salad.
Mango Tango
After eating that, we went to Mango Tango. DESSERT time!
They served the best MANGO desserts in Bangkok. Trust me.
Just simply alight at SIAM station, you'll be able to find it.

Samurai Burger @ Mac
In Singapore and Malaysia, we couldn't find any pork burger in McDonald. Sooooo, Samurai burger is a MUST eat in Bangkok. Taste? hmmm....... It's a pork burger. lol

Thai styled  Prata
Here comes my favourite street food in Bangkok- Prata. Yummmy!!!!
Whenever I went to any food stall/restaurant, I will definitely ordered Tom Yum also. ALL Malaysia and Singapore Tom Yum can't beat the Tom Yum in Bangkok at all lo!!! I'm talking crap and I know it.

Other than that, we did visit Chinatown, T&K restaurant(overrated, not nice), MBK, Siam Paragon and etc.

One bad experience we had in BKK- we planned to visit Choc Ville and taxi driver claimed that he knew how to go. In the end, he lost his way and kept calling his friends to ask for direction. WTH!!! One hour plus journey and we did not reach choc ville in the end. Kena cheated. ANGRY BIRD X 4!!!!! We decided to give up as it was quite late if we took another taxi there:((((

Undeniable, Bangkok is a very good place to shop, to buy lots of cheap clothes and makan. Most importantly, travel with the right persons:D It will make your journey happier and more meaningful.
Bangkok, I will be back again. See you when I see you!
